I don't want to be cliche but I believe in kharma, a.k.a, do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

[I'm not perfect, but I try. ;-)]

When I started A Healing Place, I knew that fairness, sympathy, empathy, kindness, and comraderie were key words that would help not only me be successful, but also help others be successful, as well.

There is heart in every facet of A Healing Place, by design, as we are a collaboration of many small businesses sharing one roof, with the common goal of bringing inner peace to those who seek it. Our methods vary from person to person, but there is that common goal. 


COMMONALITY

Some of the solo healing-preneurs lost their own office during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The reasons were several, including the business they operated in closed down or they chose to shut down the offices they were banned from using during the pandemic. In both cases, those healing-preneurs took their respective practices online during the lockdown and never went back. Now that things are opening up again, they feel it is time to spread their wings and grow their in-person businesses, again.

Of course we also have a few partners who are new to business, using the pandemic to springboard into new, healing-based careers.

Through networking and word of mouth, the universe connected us all, our hearts shined brightly and new beginnings began. 


OUR CENTER

Our center is warm, cozy, welcoming and positively charged with Reiki, healing crystals and sound instruments throughout. The moment peopel walk in, they say they feel transported to somewhere calm and peaceful. The noise of their lives become inaudbile. The sounds of the outside world become dampened and muffled as they fade into the backround. The teachers welcoming them to class are warm, welcoming, friendly, kind, nurturing, and knowledgeable.


OUR VISION

Our vision is to continue being heart-felt as we help our community heal from trauma, create new health habits for better relationships with ourselves and others, as well as have healthy bodies to carry us on our journey.


WE HOPE

We hope to not only help people fin their inner peace but also train them to help others find theirs, as well.


WALKING ALONGSIDE EACH OTHER THIS MOMENT IN TIME

When we hold each other up when the need is there, and walk alongside each other, even briefly, we all are better for it.

The Transformative Power of Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence

Self-care -- let those words sink in for a moment. 

What emotions do they evoke? 

Those words might trigger feelings of longing, a sense of something missing, or even guilt.

We instinctively understand that self-care is vital for our well-being. Yet our modern lifestyles, filled with endless to-dos and pressures, can push this fundamental need to the back burner.

Mindfulness and emotional intelligence are potent tools to redirect our focus. With these tools, we can be more present, improve our productivity, nurture our well-being, and truly enjoy life'smoments -- all without giving in to the weight of guilt.

But here's the problem: while we yearn for the oasis of self-care, when we do indulge, our inner critic crops up as an uninvited guest. The voice that says, "You shouldn't be doing this" or "You're wasting time." 

This pattern can make us susceptible to burnout, sap our creativity, and strain our relationships. Instead of being in the moment, we’re caught in a cycle of "gotta do, do, do."

But we CAN really embrace self-care as our given human right!

Name Your Inner Critic

Recognize that internal nagging voice and name it. When you do that., you detach it from your identity. 

For instance, when negative thoughts crowd out the praise after a presentation, pause and say, "Hello (fill in the name you give it here), I appreciate your input, but I choose positivity today."

Savor the Good

When you witness a stunning sunset or receive a compliment, immerse yourself in that joy. Even if it’s only for a couple of heart-beats, it matters. 

Identify the emotion, feel it in every cell, and savor the moment. This practice trains your brain to prioritize positive experiences.

Radiate Kindness, Especially to Yourself

We all stumble. Instead of being your harshest critic, be your own compassionate friend. Ask yourself, "What would I say to a dear friend in the same situation?" Then, offer yourself thesame grace.

Be Truly Present

Wherever you are -- on a vacation, at the movies, or at dinner with loved ones, be all in. Relish every sensation, every conversation, and every emotion. This is the essence of mindfulness.

Step Outside

Nature has a unique way of grounding us. Even a short walk, sans digital distractions, can reconnect you with the present. Feel the breeze, hear the birds, and simply be. 

The Mindful Journey Ahead

Emotional intelligence and mindfulness aren't just buzzwords; they're transformativeapproaches to life. They gift us with the ability to understand and manage our emotions, to be present, and most importantly, to cultivate genuine happiness.

Happy 2024!!!

What changes do you seek to create in your life?

Here's a photo of my mom and I at the gym at the local community center last week. Gotta follow through on the new year's resolution for better health, right?

But this year isn't like any other year. I just turned 51 in November and mom will be 75 in July. If today is the first day of the rest of our lives, how do we want the rest of our lives to be?

Turning 51 definitely has me looking at my next chapter -- seeing my mortality -- and thinking how do I want to live from here.

My new year's resolution is to turn back my clock; to do what I need to thrive for a long as I can. How do I do that? Put my needs first. I am an only child (a.k.a. good daughter); an adoptive mom to my teenage cousin and a business owner. I routinely put myself last -- if I'm on the list at all. 

My pledge to myself is to stop doing patchwork self-healing and go all in. I have new healthy cookbooks that I love and am attending Preeti's Vegan Indian Cooking classes; I have enrolled at the gym, where I am going at least 4 days a week; and I am taking Len Shen's Qi Gong classes online.

That's a good start. But there's more.

The best recipes have handpicked ingredients that are full of life sustaining nutrients. These recipes contain ingredients that taste good, as well as feed the soul and warm the heart.

What are the ingredients for a stew called, Ramona? Let's list them:

Now, how do we implement all that? Is it sustainable? What if I fail? Is failure inevitable?

Yes, this is all  doable through mindfulness -- checking in with myself often before making decisions that go against the above list.

Besides doing the gym, Qi Gong and trying out new cooking techniques, I have booked several fun activites this month, including a spa day with a friend, lunch with other friends, a casino trip with mom and a crab feed (minus the garlic bread and pasta) with the family.

Whew! I am so excited to do all that living! I am looking forward to enjoying all that joy! 

That said, mistakes do happen. Sometimes we just have to suck it up and go with the flow until we can pick ourselves up and get back on the right path. Failure is not an option. If the new year's resolution action plan gets mangled, just straighten it out and start again. Intent gets gluten-free, dairy-free brownie points!
